What We Collect

Email address — when you create an account or sign in
Authentication data — login timestamps and session tokens (managed by Supabase Auth)
Subscription and billing data — plan tier, subscription status, Stripe customer ID (no card numbers — Stripe handles those directly)
Watchlist and PC board data — athletes you follow and PC slot designations you create
Email preferences — whether you have opted in to the weekly digest
Usage events — pages visited and features used (aggregated and anonymized)

We do not collect your name, address, phone number, or payment card details.

How We Use It

To operate the service and your account
To send transactional emails (sign-in links, weekly digest, sell alerts) — only to opted-in users or as required to deliver the service
To process subscription billing via Stripe
To improve signal quality and product features using aggregated, anonymized usage data
To send service-critical notices (plan changes, security alerts)

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

Third-Party Services

We share data with the following services solely to operate the platform:

Cookies and Local Storage

We use your browser's localStorage (not traditional cookies) to keep the site working. Here is exactly what we store and why:

Session token — set by Supabase Auth when you sign in. Keeps you logged in between visits. Cleared when you sign out.
Radar preferences (hhi_prefs_v1) — the leagues, teams, and alert setting you choose in the "Tune Your Radar" flow. Stored locally so your preferences load instantly. Synced to our database if you are signed in so they carry across devices.
UI state — your last-selected league tab, signal filter, and widget size. Used only to restore your view on your next visit. No personal data involved.
Banner dismissal — a flag recording that you have seen and dismissed the cookie notice or intro banner. Prevents it from showing every visit.

Stripe sets functional cookies when you visit the billing or upgrade flow. These are required for secure payment processing. Stripe does not use them for advertising.

Umami Analytics is our analytics provider. It is fully cookie-free and does not fingerprint users or share data with third parties.

We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking cookies, or any third-party profiling technology.

AI-Generated Signals

The buy/sell/hold/watch signals on this platform are generated by an AI model (Google Gemini) using publicly available sports data, eBay sold-price data, and web search results. Signals are not human-written financial advice. They reflect patterns in public data at the time they were scored — they can be wrong, and they should be used as one input among many, not as the sole basis for any buying or selling decision.

We publish our signal accuracy rate openly at /accuracy. We believe you have the right to know how well the AI is performing before you rely on it.

No personal data about you — your watchlist, your PC board, your email — is ever sent to any AI model.

Your Rights

You may at any time:

Access your data — email us and we will provide a copy of what we hold
Delete your account — email support@hobbyheatindex.com to request full deletion
Opt out of emails — use the unsubscribe link in any digest email, or update your preference in Settings
Correct your data — contact us if any information we hold is inaccurate

Users in the EU/EEA have additional rights under GDPR. California residents have additional rights under CCPA. Contact us to exercise any of these rights.

Data Retention

We retain account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days.

Security

Your data is stored in Supabase with row-level security enforced at the database level. All connections use HTTPS/TLS. We use Sentry to detect and respond to application errors quickly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be communicated via email to active subscribers. The effective date at the top always reflects the current version.
